![]() ![]() Common culprits are antidepressants, migraine treatments, dietary supplements, and illicit drugs. Serotonin syndrome most often happens when mixing medicines that contain serotonin, per Mayo Clinic. Low levels of serotonin are thought to play a key role in the development of mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. I'm hoping that they will continue my treatment locally after seeing I've been taking medication and I'm making notes of how my medication has improved my life since taking them.Serotonin syndrome is a rare but serious reaction that can happen when certain medications you’re taking cause too much serotonin to build up in your brain.Ĭolloquially known as the “feel-good” chemical, serotonin is a neurotransmitter that supports many of your body’s functions, including mood regulation, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The reason I didn't start locally is because it takes a very long time to get an appointment and it's much more expensive up front. That being said, my second provider is giving me a treatment that I've been looking for so I plan to continue using Done First while I look for a local provider. I find that pretty unfair because ADHD is not a one size fits all condition. They are not likely going to be the most reliable source to get a diagnosis because they have rigid requirements to give you one. My overall point is: do some research on what online providers are looking for. Now as adults some of us are trying to navigate the world without diagnoses we should have had as children. This one was a little agitating for me because my parents never took us to the doctor for anything besides physical injury. I also made sure to let them know this has been affecting me since I was very young. I also wrote down a couple of "stories" throughout my life that shows how it affected me, especially with my relationships, education, and work. I basically wrote down all of the things that I experienced that make me feel I have ADHD. ![]() I did my best to cover all the bases by making notes before the appointment. I learned beforehand that they are looking for a specific criteria to decide if you are ADHD or not. But, that caused some issues once I did have my second appointment as far as reinstating my account and it did delay my treatment.Īfter my second provider saw me, I decided to be extremely thorough and basically talked non-stop for about 10 minutes while the new provider wrote down notes. They were great about temporarily deactivating my account so I wouldn't get charged another month until my appointment. I told them I'm not comfortable paying the monthly charge for "treatment" while I'm not receiving any help in the meantime. I sent a message to Done First about this experience and they were nice enough to set me up with another appointment but I had to wait about a month to see someone new. And within 15 minutes he told me I wasn't giving him enough information to give me a diagnosis and that he felt as though he was having to give me leading questions from time to time, so therefore we couldn't go forward with treatment. I expected him to ask me questions but he really didn't. The biggest issue I had was my first provider wanted me.to control the entire evaluation by explaining why I felt I may have ADHD. Other times, they can't get ahold of my provider and I've threatened to cancel my membership, which suddenly resolves my issue. The entire process has been easy enough, but the only way to get an issue resolved is through email, which can take a few days to get a resolution to just about anything. Oh and adding my personal details and insurance information. There's almost nothing for me to access on my profile, besides setting up a consult with my provider and seeing details about my prescription. If I'm not mistaken, I just did the questionnaire which told me I may have ADHD but that I need an appointment to confirm. I've been using Done First for a few months and I also have seen mixed results. Hmm, I don't recall being sent intake forms. ![]()
